Sugilite Sensation
This cross came from my 'Lavender Space Journey' as the pod parent and 'White Eyes Pink Dragon' as the pollen parent. The result is a very large flower where the ancestry of 'Supermodel' shows through. The flower and the plant are very impressive. This is another very hardy dormant daylily that blooms in the mid-late season. The scapes have 4-5 way branching with an average bud of 20 or more per scape so the bloom season lasts into late season. The intense colours and the very large 6.75" blooms on 34" scapes make this plant outstanding in the garden. The flower is dark to medium wine in colour with a green to lemon yellow throat. Above the throat is the very large violet slate halo on the petals with a pink slate halo echoed on the sepals. The name 'Sugilite Sensation' comes from the purple shaded and rare gemstone 'Sugilite' which is sometimes available in jewelry. While I have some cultivars in my garden that are similar, 'Sugilite Sensation' has the largest sized flower of any of them. Double fan (DF) $60.00
