Shane
I’ve been waiting for many years for a daylily that had spectacular qualities that I could name to honour my partner. Well folks, it’s here with the introduction of ‘Shane’. This beautiful purple wine flower has a large soft yellow throat that is echoed on the sepals in a very visible effect. The throat has hints of green and is surrounded by a very large slate pink watermark extending out ¾ of the way on the flower petals and a hint of the same watermark is noticeable around the yellow on the sepals. It’s an exciting milestone as a hybridizer to use two of my previous introductions to produce an outstanding new daylily hybrid. Using ‘Sugilite Sensation’ and ‘Linda Marie’ as parents, proved to be a winning combination resulting in the daylily seedling now registered as ‘Shane’. ‘Shane’ is a daylily that is very hardy and vigorous. The flower is always an early morning opener with great clarity of colour throughout the day, whether it’s cool or hot. The scapes are strong with a good bud count of 24 while the scapes aso have 4-5 way branching. Best of all for me, I just went through one of my best summers for amazing growth and beautiful blooms in my newest seedlings, many of which were offspring out of the daylily ‘Shane’. There are many beautiful clear coloured daylilies with amazing scapes and bud counts that have been tagged for future consideration and there are more to bloom in the future. It’s exciting to see this plant and it’s offspring perform so well in my garden. Whether you’re a garden enthusiast or a daylily hybridizer, this daylily comes highly recommended. $85.00 SF (Single fan)
