Coastal Starburst
'Coastal Starburst' has a dark wine flower with a green throat overcast with yellow. The throat is surrounded by an even darker wine coloured eye. There is a light cream, pencil-line surrounding the petal edges. Thick bright white rays extend out along the midribs and abruptly stop. Later in the season the rays narrow and extend out further on the midribs. The rays are echoed slightly on the sepals. It has inherited the evergreen gene from its pollen parent 'Purple Badger' but has the hardiness of its pod parent 'Spirit Zone'. It has been very hardy in my garden over 6-7 years of evaluation. The scapes have 2-way branching and an average of 10 buds. 'Coastal Starburst' was named by members of Nova Scotia's Coastal Voices Men's Choir, and all proceeds go toward the choir. $25 DF(Double fan)
