Hybridizing is as much about the surprises as it is about what you are expecting from combining specific parents. A lavender and a pink parent produced a pink-lavender seedling that was crossed with a dark pink registered daylily (Lavender Space Journey x White Eyes Pink Dragon) x Linda Marie. From these crosses I had an entire row of pink seedlings except for this cream yellow daylily seedling that surfaced. This Unusual Form Cascade daylily has been a favourite among many visitors to the garden. With 3-4 way branching and 14 buds per scape, as a mature clump it looks magical. From all the pinks and purples, orange, red, and yellow daylilies in my garden, the occasional cream daylily seems to have a calming effect upon the surrounding cacophony of colour. ‘Butterfly Star Cluster’ brings a peaceful movement to the garden with its Cascade shape appearing like dancing stars suspended in the air.
