Brian Smith
This wonderful daylily is named to honour Brian Smith, the first major daylily grower in Nova Scotia selling to the general public. Brian has promoted daylilies for decades and he is an important founding member of the Nova Scotia Daylily Society. The flower is a dark regal purple, with heavy ruffling and mouse ears on the petals. The dark yellow colour emanating from the throat merges with the purple petals to form a chalky, blue, slate halo with purple/wine veins. The sepals have a thin, pencil-line cream edge. The petals have a creamy yellow heavily ruffled edge. A thinner violet edge separates the purple of the flower from the yellow outer edge. This is an outstanding plant in my garden. It is a hardy dormant and the flowers open well all of the time, the colour is sunfast and there is very little spottiness. It is a cross between 'Forever The Optimist' and 'Super Model'. It is a great addition to any garden.
