Banks of Jeddore

Banks of Jeddore

Banks of Jeddore
$50.00

This daylily was hybridized by my good Nova Scotia daylily buddy, Ed Kimball. I grew it in my garden for him for the past few years and it has done very well. During the ADS Region 4 summer garden tours it looked great and was a show stopper for many of the visitors. Since my last name is Banks and I live on Jeddore Harbour, he made a nod to me by naming it 'Banks of Jeddore'. As an interesting aside to this name, I am very involved with a men's choir here on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia (Coastal Voices Men's Choir). During the 2019 season we will be performing an arrangement by John Plant of a folksong based loosely on the melody of 'Farewell to Nova Scotia'. The name of the folk song is 'On the Banks of Jeddore'. Interestingly, it was collected in the Beauce region of Quebec. The daylily 'Banks of Jeddore' has been a hardy semi-evergreen in my garden. I live in a coastal region that often has cool foggy nights in the summer, nevertheless, the flower opens well most days. The scapes have 3 branches and up to 18 buds. The parentage is: Belle of Ashwood x Belle Cook. The flower is a beautiful pink with a gold edge and a green throat. $50 DF(Double fan)
